New Jersey – FAQ

To qualify for the New Jersey Medicinal Cannabis Program as a state resident, you must:

• Have a qualifying medical condition.
• Be under the care of a New Jersey healthcare practitioner registered with the program.
• Receive an Authorizing Healthcare Practitioner Statement with a reference ID and registry ID.
• Use both IDs to complete your registration in the NJMCP patient portal.

Patients under 18 may also qualify. A parent or legal guardian must participate in the process. If the authorizing practitioner is not trained in pediatric care, written confirmation from a pediatric healthcare practitioner is required.

Note: Visiting patients with an active medical cannabis registration in another state may apply for a nonrenewable 6-month New Jersey MCP card after consulting a registered New Jersey healthcare practitioner.

The qualifying conditions for a medical marijuana card in NJ include:

• Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
• Anxiety
• Cancer
• Chronic pain
• Dysmenorrhea
• Glaucoma
• Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease
• Intractable skeletal muscular spasticity 
• Migraine
• Multiple sclerosis (MS)
• Muscular dystrophy
• Opioid use disorder 
  
• HIV/AIDS
• Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
• Seizure disorders, including epilepsy
• Sickle cell anemia
• Terminal illness
• Tourette syndrome with a prognosis of less than 12 months to live
  

Follow the steps below to get certified for medical marijuana with Quick Med Cards:

1. Complete our sign-up form and create your account.
2. Book your appointment with one of our New Jersey medical marijuana doctors.
3. Attend your virtual consultation over a video call.
4. Receive your Authorizing Healthcare Practitioner Statement if the doctor determines that you qualify. 

No. Having one or more qualifying conditions does not guarantee authorization. A participating healthcare practitioner must evaluate your condition and determine whether medicinal cannabis is appropriate for your treatment.

Yes. Once you book your appointment, we’ll send you a secure link for your video call when the consultation time approaches. You’ll meet with your physician to discuss how medical cannabis could benefit your health–this generally takes 10-15 minutes. After your doctor approves, you’ll receive your certification via email. It’ll also be available from your Quick Med Cards dashboard.

Getting your certification is just step one of getting your medical marijuana card. Next, you must complete your application on the New Jersey Medicinal Cannabis Program (NJMCP) Portal.

The NJ-CRC does not provide a guaranteed delivery date for physical MCP IDs. Check your NJMCP patient portal to see when your application is being reviewed and when your physical card has been printed and mailed.

After your registration is approved, you can also access your free digital MCP ID through the patient portal. If you want to have a physical card, you can request one for $10.

Your NJ medical card will be valid for 2 years.

Log in to your NJMCP account to access your digital MCP ID at no cost. To replace a physical ID, submit the request and pay the $10 fee through the patient portal.

If you need a replacement because of an error made by the NJ-CRC, contact Patient Services for a no-charge correction.

The doctor consultation costs $149, and our financing option lets you book an appointment for as little as $47. The cost includes the consultation and, if approved, your medical cannabis authorization.

State fees are separate. A digital New Jersey MCP ID is free, while an optional physical ID costs $10.
