Rhode Island may take up to 35 days to approve or deny a complete medical marijuana card application. Once approved, the state issues the registration card within 5 days. Patients receiving chemotherapy or admitted to hospice may qualify for expedited processing within 72 hours.

A Rhode Island medical marijuana card is valid for 1 year from its issue date. You can renew your registration within 60 days before it expires through the Rhode Island Cannabis Licensing Portal.
