Pennsylvania – Patient FAQ

Getting your Pennsylvania medical marijuana certification involves a few simple steps:

• Register for Pennsylvania’s Medical Marijuana Program and create your patient profile.
• Fill out our form and schedule your appointment.
• Speak with a medical marijuana provider and get certified if you qualify.
• Complete the remaining steps in the Pennsylvania patient portal and pay the required state fee.
• Receive your medical marijuana ID card by mail at the address listed in your patient profile.

Once you receive your card, you can use it to purchase medical marijuana from a licensed Pennsylvania dispensary.

After your doctor certifies you, you must pay the required annual ID card fee through the patient portal. Your card will be printed within 7 days after payment and mailed to the address listed in your Patient Profile. 

Allow up to 14 days for delivery. Make sure your address is current before completing your payment. 

Once the doctor certifies you in the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Registry, you will receive an email with instructions to complete your registration. Log in to the patient portal, complete any required steps, and pay the medical marijuana ID card fee. 

Your card will then be printed and mailed to the address listed in your Patient Profile.

Your Pennsylvania medical marijuana ID card is valid for 1 year. You will receive an email 60 days before your card and certification expire with instructions to obtain a new certification.

 To request a replacement card, log in to your Registry Patient Profile and submit a replacement card request.

The replacement fee is $25 for the first replacement and $50 for subsequent replacements. 

To participate in Pennsylvania’s Medical Marijuana Program, you must:

• Be a Pennsylvania resident.
• Have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license or Pennsylvania state-issued ID showing your current address.
• Have a working email address.
• Have at least 1 approved serious medical condition.
• Be certified by a physician approved to participate in the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program.

Pennsylvania also permits qualifying patients under age 18 to participate through a registered caregiver.

Having one or more qualifying conditions does not guarantee that you will receive a medical marijuana certification. Your physician must determine that you have a qualifying condition and that medical marijuana may provide therapeutic or palliative benefit. 

The Pennsylvania medical marijuana ID card fee is $50 per year. If you are enrolled in Medicaid, PACE/PACENET, CHIP, SNAP, or WIC, you may qualify for a no-cost medical marijuana ID card.

For the doctor certification, Quick Med Cards charges $149, or you can use our financing option to book your appointment for as little as $47. The state card fee is paid separately through the Pennsylvania patient portal.

Pennsylvania residents must provide proof of residency to register for the state’s Medical Marijuana Program. Accepted forms of identification include

• • Pennsylvania driver’s license showing the current address.
  • Pennsylvania state-issued identification card showing the current address.

You also need a working email address to register. Make sure your ID shows your current address. If your address has changed, contact the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program at 888-733-5595 for guidance on updating your information before registering.

No. You must be a Pennsylvania resident to register for the state’s Medical Marijuana Program. Pennsylvania does not accept out-of-state medical marijuana cards for purchases at its medical dispensaries. Only patients with a valid Pennsylvania medical marijuana ID card can purchase medical marijuana through the state’s program.

Not every patient needs to submit medical records. However, the marijuana doctor must confirm that you have a qualifying medical condition. Your doctor may ask for medical records or other information to support the evaluation.

Pennsylvania recognizes 24 serious medical conditions for its Medical Marijuana Program. These include

• Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
• Anxiety disorders
• Autism
• Cancer, including remission therapy
• Chronic hepatitis C
• Crohn’s disease
• Damage to the nervous tissue of the central nervous system causing intractable spasticity and associated neuropathies
• Dyskinetic and spastic movement disorders
• Epilepsy
• Glaucoma
• HIV/AIDS
• Huntington’s disease
• Inflammatory bowel disease
• Intractable seizures
• Multiple sclerosis
• Neurodegenerative diseases
• Neuropathies
• Opioid use disorder that meets the state’s treatment criteria
• Parkinson’s disease
• Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
• Severe chronic or intractable pain, including neuropathic pain
• Sickle cell anemia
• Terminal illness
• Tourette syndrome

An approved practitioner must confirm that you have a qualifying condition and determine whether medical marijuana may provide therapeutic or palliative benefits. Moderate to severe traumatic brain injury with chronic symptoms and type II diabetes are approved for research purposes only, not as standard qualifying conditions for patient certification.

Yes. If our doctor determines that you do not qualify for medical marijuana, you can request a refund of your appointment fee, minus $5 for bank fees. Email staff@quickmedcards.com within 4 months of your appointment date. Refunds do not apply if you miss or cancel your appointment or fail to complete the required state application steps. Yes. If you find a lower price for a comparable consultation, email the webpage link to staff@quickmedcards.com. Our team will review it and, if it qualifies, beat the price by $5.

The medical marijuana consultation involves the following steps.

• Register with Pennsylvania’s Medical Marijuana Program and obtain your Patient ID number.
• Book an appointment with a healthcare provider.
• Discuss your medical history and qualifying condition.
• Have the provider evaluate your eligibility.
• If approved, the practitioner submits your certification through Pennsylvania’s Medical Marijuana Program.
• Pay the $50 state ID card fee, unless you qualify for a fee reduction.
• Wait for your medical marijuana ID card to arrive by mail. Pennsylvania allows up to 7 days for printing and up to 14 days for mailing.

Once you receive your card, you can purchase medical marijuana from a licensed Pennsylvania dispensary.

Yes. You need to pay the appointment fee to reserve your consultation time. The fee covers your appointment and certification, if approved. Any state application fee is separate and must be paid directly to the state.
