Arkansas – Patient FAQ

To qualify for a medical marijuana card in Arkansas, you must meet the following requirements:

• You must be a resident of Arkansas.
• You must have a valid Arkansas driver’s license or state ID.
• If you are under 18, your parent, guardian, or legal custodian must consent in writing to your medical use of marijuana and register as your designated caregiver.
• A physician must provide a medical marijuana certification confirming that you have a qualifying medical condition.

Note: Members of the Arkansas National Guard or the United States military cannot register as designated caregivers.

In order to be eligible for a medical card in Arkansas, you must be diagnosed with one of the qualifying medical conditions determined by the state:

• Alzheimer’s disease
• Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
• Cachexia (wasting syndrome)
• Cancer
• Crohn’s disease (IBD)
• Fibromyalgia
• Glaucoma
• Hepatitis C
• HIV/AIDS
• Intractable pain; pain that’s unresponsive to ordinary medications, treatment, or surgical measures for more than 6 months
• Peripheral neuropathy
• Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
• Seizures, including those that stem from epilepsy
• Severe and persistent muscle spasms, including those associated with multiple sclerosis
• Severe arthritis
• Severe nausea
• Tourette’s syndrome
• Ulcerative colitis (IBD)
• Any other medical condition or its treatment approved by the Department of Health.

Follow the steps below to get certified for medical marijuana with Quick Med Cards:

1. Complete our sign-up form and create your account.
2. Book your appointment with one of our Arkansas medical marijuana doctors.
3. Attend your in-person consultation (required for first-time patients).
4. Get your certification after the doctor’s approval.

No. Having one or more qualifying conditions does not guarantee that you will receive an Arkansas medical marijuana certification. A physician must determine whether you qualify for certification based on your medical condition and evaluation.

In Arkansas, first-time medical marijuana certifications must be completed in person with a licensed physician; video calls are not allowed for initial evaluations.

However, if you are renewing an existing certification, you may be eligible to complete your consultation via video call (telehealth).

During the appointment, the doctor will review your condition and determine if you qualify. Once approved, your certification will be sent via email for your state application.

After certification, apply to the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) for your medical marijuana registry card. Include your signed physician certification, a copy of your Arkansas driver’s license or state ID, and the application fee.

ADH must receive your application and supporting documents within 30 days of the physician’s signature. Allow up to 14 days for processing. You need a valid registry card before buying medical marijuana from an Arkansas dispensary.

Your medical card will be valid for 1 year.

Arkansas also charges a separate, non-refundable $50 patient application fee for both new medical marijuana cards and renewals. This is paid to the Arkansas Department of Health.
