How do I qualify for a Louisiana medical marijuana card?

You must meet the following requirements to get a medical marijuana card in Louisiana:

  • You must be a resident of Louisiana.
  • You must have a marijuana recommendation issued by a medical marijuana doctor licensed by and in good standing with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to qualify for medical marijuana as an adult.

What are the qualifying conditions for a medical marijuana card in Louisiana?

Even so, Louisiana medical marijuana laws mention the following debilitating illnesses as qualifying conditions:

What's the process of getting an MMJ certification in Louisiana?

Follow the steps below to get certified for medical marijuana with Quick Med Cards:

  1. Complete our sign-up form and create your account.
  2. Book your appointment with one of our Louisiana cannabis doctors.
  3. Attend your virtual consultation over a video call.
  4. Get your recommendation after the doctor’s approval.

I have several qualifying conditions. Does that guarantee that I'll get my Louisiana med card?

No. The law doesn’t obligate marijuana doctors in Louisiana to approve patients for medical marijuana. Still, our MMJ doctors will most likely certify you if your health could benefit from medical cannabis.

How is the consultation done? Can I have a video call with the doctor?

Yes. Once you book your appointment, we’ll send you a secure link for your video call when the consultation time approaches. You’ll meet with your physician to discuss how medical cannabis could benefit your health–this generally takes 10-15 minutes. After your doctor approves, they’ll upload your recommendation to the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy’s Cannabis Registry.

What happens after I'm approved?

Your cannabis doctor will upload your marijuana recommendation to the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy’s Cannabis Registry, and then you can buy medical cannabis from dispensaries in the state.

When will I get my med card in the mail?

No. Lousiana doesn’t issue medical marijuana cards to patients. Your marijuana recommendation is enough to buy medical cannabis from dispensaries in LA.

How long is my med card valid for?

Your medical marijuana recommendation will be valid for one year.

I lost/destroyed my med card. How do I ask for a new one?

Your medical marijuana recommendation will always be available in your email and your Quick Med Cards dashboard.

Are there other fees I need to pay for?

There’s no state fee for a medical marijuana recommendation in Louisiana. Still, you’ll need to consult with a cannabis doctor for approval. With Quick Med Cards, your consultation and certification will cost $45 to $179, the lowest in the state.
